When reinstalling OS and programs, is there a preferred order?

After 'wiping' the hard drive 'clean' and doing a reinstall, should antivirus programs and applications precede other software and hardware etc... Is there some hierarchy involved in properly reinstalling everything one had before erasure? And should updates (windows) follow anti-virus suite installation etc? Thanks.

1 %26gt; install OS first obviously

a%26gt; stay off the internet

2 %26gt; install programs from cd / dvd's next

a%26gt; stay off the internet

3%26gt; then lastly install the AV

that way the AV can't interfere w/ the install

don't connect to the internet until everything is in place

4 %26gt; finally any programs that require downloading do that then

disconnect from the internet

scan the downloads

if all checks out disable AV

then install

then re-enable AV

and scan the machine before running any program

Cheers

My personal preference is OS (obviously), then all my maintenance utilities ( like ccleaner, regcure, errorsmart, drivergenius, etc.), then my anti-vir,firewall,anti-spy (Kapersky KIS), Then my productivity utilities, browsers, players, etc. When everything is working properly and I have set a restore point. Then I update everything.
