Don't get caught up into that ridiculous rip-off by fix-it shops for "Reformatting your Disk" after wiping it. These people are unscrupulous for a buck at the consumer's expense, documented, and I will show you why. Why? Because right now for either free or $30 for software you can simply run antispyware software that will scan for and remove this threat.
What it definately sounds like you have is what is called "ransomware" and DON'T DARE FILL IN ANY INFORMATION or click anything on it. Ransomware is a stealth drive-by installation like this either browsing a malicious content website or ignorantly clicking a link in a UCE (Unsolicited Commercial Email) spam. If you thought you were getting a 'deal' at "spam-mart" - well there you are. Want another 'deal' ? It is called ransomware because it has hi-jacked navigation of the computer system for the "price" of software claiming to fix it. They are sticking you up for $30 or whatever software price to get it removed by a fake program. Even this has changed to the worst to where anything you type in is all transmitted back to the cyber criminals on the other end (credit or bank information) and your accounts are maxxed out almost within the hour unless sold at an underground ID Theft auction. Don't touch the dang thing at all - or you may be installing more. It would have really helped if you gave some names it was showing. Some other fakes like this were SpyAxe, SpyFalcon, and others which began 2 years ago with the WMF Metafile exploit zero day for Windows. You should be on a fully patched (Windows Updates) pc running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Internet Explorer 7.
