Clicking noise?

OK don't laugh.. when I click on things on my PC (XP) it makes a clicky sound. But sometimes it's making that same clicky sound when I'm not even touching it !! I have Norton Antivirus, Windows Defender and LavaSoft Ad-Aware all installed, updated and running regularly. In fact, I run Ad-Aware to get rid of tracking cookies on a regular basis. I know they're generally not harmful but I'm that careful.. or paranoid. According to my security software there is no evidence of spyware so what could it be??

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm,

I don't know but If I were you I would get rid of Norton. First of all it is a mess, second it takes too many resources, third it is Not free and Fourth - Does Not Protect. I am computer technician and fix customers' computers. You just don't want to know what i find when people have Norton Installed.

Download AVG - download.com It is free and 10 times better. Also another program you could use is NOD 32

As it comes to the clicking - it could be Internet Explorer or some kind of spyware on your PC.

If clicking comes from the case and not the speakers, Norton fas the tendency to check the floppy all the time so this might be an answer to your question.

Good Luck!

it wouldnt be software, most likely ur harddrive is on the way out.

Maybe its something around it? like a fridge motor causing static.
Could be that a page you're uploading is continuing to upload as you're working on it. That happens to me all the time.
Try going to the control panel then click on "sounds, speech and audio devices"

After that click on "change the sound scheme" and I'm sure U will be able to get rid of the sound.
