I downloaded this new anti-virus software, and as I was trying to open a program that required sound, (Movie Maker), a box came up and it warned me about this 'suspicious' program trying to run on my computer that read "WinSound1.exe". I clicked the button that said to 'remove' it, and I did. Now I can't get ANY sound on this computer, and I noticed that my icon that used to be on the lower right side of my screen (beside the clock) is no longer there. It's been a few days since I noticed any difference at all with my computer. For some reason, I'm thinking that I lost my sound, before I downloaded this antivirus program, because even a couple of days before that, when I was on the computer, every time I clicked to close out a program, a sound (beep) would come from the 'inside of my computer', instead of my speakers.
What happened, and how do I get my sound back? Did I delete it at some point? HELLLLLPPpp!
I lost the sound on my computer somehow! Help!?norton
Just to be sure you don't have some more malware in your computer you should run a complete virus scan on your pc.
Go to http://www.infectedornot.com and try their detection tools. The site is owned by Panda Software so you can be sure it is safe.
It's all part of a new campaign from Panda to raise awareness on the malware problem. They let you use their Panda Nano Scan and Panda Total Scan tools for free, and in exchange, they collect statistics that are presented in that same web site.
