Laptop Screen trouble?

My HP pavillion dv2530ea laptop has recently developed a problem where when it turns on, the screen goes blue and has random lines running through it permanantly. The disk drive and stuff seem to work, but i can't log on or anything coz the screen is just blue and white and black. Anyone have any ideas whether this is software or hardware-related and/or any solution ideas?

p.s. i haven't installed any new software or hardware recently, it can't b a virus coz i only use a couple of games sites and i have a good antivirus, and the laptop is only a few months old and is quite good spec

One cause of a problem like this is the small thin cable that connects from your video card to the LCD.

I fixed this in my Dell with the same problem. It entails taking out 4 or 5 screws at the bottom of the laptop, turning it over and lifting the keyboard from the right side where there is no connection and sliding it off the lip on the left side. Lift carefully as there is another ribbon cable for the keyboard to the main motherboard.

The video card should be in view under possibly an insulator but you'll see the ribbon cable exiting and going towards the LCD.

Insure the end of the ribbon cable is tight in the receptor in the video card. Do this by gently removing it and re-inserting it into the slot.
