Sometimes when I click on a chart in a blog or on a site that opens another window, the pop up comes up 404-Page Not Found. (But I know the page really does work, it just doesn't work for me.) On my website, I have software that uses a pop-up box to upload documents. That pop-up comes up 404.
It usually happens when a site launches another page. It happened to me in Expedia.com. It happens on blogs or on other sites.
I am using IE 6.0.29 w/SP2. And PC-cillian antivirus.
Can my antivirus/firwall be blocking the page? Or are my security settings too high? It's driving me crazy!! Anyone have any suggestions (other than switching to a Mac/Linux or re-installing IE6)? Is it a virus or spyware or somthing?? HELP??
Some Pop-ups Come Up 404 - Page Not Found. Others Work Fine. What's Up With That?internet security 2006
I don't think it's a virus or spyware. I'm pretty confident that it's how your browser is interpreting those popups.
For isntance, if you have the Google or Yahoo toolbars installed, uninstall them. The popup blockers in them may be causing problems.
Unless your operating system is older than XP (you didn't state what O/S you had), I would highly recommend upgrading to Internet Explorer 7.
I doubt PC-cillin is the culprit, but I certainly wouldn't recommend using it over a free antivirus solution such as AVG from grisoft.com.
Hope that helps. If you need more info or help, please don't hesitate to message me.
