We have a message coming from Internet Explorer that we have a security alert. How do we get rid of

I have run Ad-Aware and SpyBot 3x each as well as our Norton Antivirus program. It cannot be removed from our computer and we don't know where to turn from here. I even uninstalled Internet Explorer 7 thinking I could get rid of it that way but no luck. When the warning comes up, it then takes us to 2 different sites wanting us to download their software to get rid of the virus. I think it might have been attached to an Active-X program. Any info you can give us would be much appreciated. It has basically hijacked our computer. Thank you so much!

That message did not come from IE. It is one of those fake messsages that try to scare you into buying their software with fake warnings.

If you have Vista your safe, if not upgrade.
