What does everything think of AOL's new free BYOA plan?

I never thought I would voluntarily use AOL software. I've always HATED AOL. Whenever it came preinstalled on a computer, I would immediately uninstall it.

But since AOL has gone free with their 'bring your access' plan, I decided to try it because of the security suite that comes with it - virus scanner, spyware removal, firewall. Wow, I'm impressed!!! I've since uninstalled the AVG free antivirus (which I never liked much anyway). I might actually recommend AOL (gasp!) to others.

What do you think of their new plan?

It's not new.

AOL is heavily advertised, yet is severely inadequate on their infrastructure, so you have many slow or no connections.

Move on to something newer, faster. But if they are now free forever, that changes it a bit.

I am wondering what AOL has up their sleeve. It could be a trap .
i dunno...i don't use the service
I just dropped AOL because it's getting sooooo slow and harder and harder to get connected.

I would say look at it very carefully before you choose to do this.
i would say ewww no - dont do it!! dont get it just for the security suite!! if its a pc, most internet providers have a security suite that you can get free or for really cheap. when you get aol, all you are paying for is aol email and the aol browser. thats it. just go with a normal isp. that way you dont have to use smelly aol. plus the BYOA program is cheap, but you would only be getting the very smallest speed package of whatever internet you choose.

imo, the only aol item that is good is aim.
AOL is for n00bs
I hate AOL, it messed up my computer, I will never download it on my computer
who uses aol anymore?????

Slow and slow and getting slower is all I hae to say
hmm...
