Wireless network not connecting?

I am trying to connect my laptop up to my wireless connection. I couldnt connect earlier when i had McAfee antivirus installed, and i took that off and it worked fine, then i installed AVG and the connection has limited or no connectivity again.

I am also using the dell software to manage the wireless networks and not windows, would changing this so that windows manages these networks help correct my problem?

you normally get that when the network key entered does not match. Try firstly turning off security at the router, by selecting "none" - then connect, if that works select WPA-PSK at the router, chose and enter a 6 chr key. Then the laptop will ask ytou to enter one, enter the same key at the laptop end. thunderbird_ii_Uk@yahoo.com

Check the network settings you could also try running the wizard, to set it up.
