I have a shadow icon on my desktop, how can i rid it?

i cannot install software because of this mystery icon that bacame my wallpaper. i tried to run spyware and antivirus to get rid of it. and i tried also to change it in appearance and theme but to no avail. Do i need to reformat my computer?

If you had given more details (what's the name of the icon, what does it do when you try to open it or delete it, what's its target, does it appear in control panel | add/remove software) I would be able to give you a more detailed answer. Anyway, right-click the icon and click on "Properties". Remember what's written in the "target" or "command line" field and find that file using "Windows Explorer". Try to delete the file. If it doesn't work, try to rename the file. Now the icon won't have a target to point to and, if it was something like a virus, spyware od adware, it won't work anymore.

If restarting your computer will make the file reappear, run a virus scanner and scan ALL files on your computer (don't use "smart extensions" or speed scans, or something like that). Also scan your registry for errors and unwanted changes.
well it sure sounds like a virus or spyware of some kind, if you cant get it out of your computer then yes reformat
