Stupid norton wont uninstall?

i want to uninstall norton antivirus 2006 first i tried but the uninstaller said it was in use. so in msconfig i stoped all symantec %26 norton software from running on windows start up but when i try to uninstall it said that liveupdate or auto live update update was running and when i try to close it in task manager the acces was denied. what do i do to uninstall it

Try stopping it in the bios. Then remove it when the operating system comes up.

go to control panel, add/remove, hit remove on norton.

also, go to "search, type the word norton, and when you find it, delete.

finally, go to http://safety.live.com

#free microsoft site, will do full scan, and remove any virus, and clean registry.

make sure you get "full" scan.
During startup, click on F8 when the screen displays 'Press f8 for advanced options'. Load safe-mode. Try installing Norton from safe mode.
Pick up your computer and launch it out a window. LOL I had the same problem and finally between me screwing it up, and than DELL screwing it up I had to start from scratch and send it to a professional to be fixed
In my spare time I like to test antivirus/antispyware software to see if they perform as claimed and if there are any embedded malware in the program or the wizard installer used to quide you through the installation.
